Woman Killed at Thane’s Diva Station
Man arrested for pushing woman onto tracks
A 39-year-old woman was fatally pushed in front of a moving goods train at Diva railway station in Thane district during a violent altercation early Friday morning, police said. The accused, Rajan Shivnarayan Singh, was arrested and faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and other offenses.
The incident occurred between 5:00 am and 5:30 am on platform 5-6, according to Thane Railway Police Senior Inspector Archana Dusane. Singh, a 39-year-old resident of Diva East, allegedly quarreled with the woman and attempted to molest her. As she resisted, he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto the tracks, where she was struck and killed instantly by a passing freight train.
Singh attempted to flee but was apprehended by Railway Police Constable Sagar Shinde after a chase. He was produced before a court and remanded to five days of police custody. “We are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing eyewitnesses to establish the full sequence of events,” Dusane said, noting efforts to identify the woman and determine the motive behind the altercation.
