Woman government worker stabbed eight times by colleague in Maharashtra attack captured on CCTV

A 27-year-old woman government employee was critically injured after she was allegedly attacked with a sickle by a colleague in Palghar district of Maharashtra, in a violent incident that was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Police said the accused, a court peon identified as Amol Mule, is currently absconding and a search operation has been launched to trace him.

According to officials, the incident took place on Friday around 6:15 pm when the victim, identified as Snehal Sawant, who works in the revenue department at the Palghar district collector’s office, was walking on a road after duty. Police said the accused reportedly approached her from behind and launched a sudden attack using a sickle.

Investigators stated that the accused allegedly struck the woman multiple times on her neck, back, shoulders, and waist, inflicting at least eight serious injuries. Even after she fell to the ground, he continued the assault before fleeing the scene, leaving behind his bag and the weapon used in the attack, officials said.

Locals who witnessed the aftermath rushed to help after finding the injured woman on the road. Within minutes, a crowd gathered at the spot and she was shifted to a nearby rural hospital in Palghar. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to a higher medical facility, where her condition is currently stated to be critical.

Police teams, including forensic experts, reached the crime scene soon after being alerted and collected evidence from the area. Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh also visited the site to review the situation and oversee the initial investigation into the attack.

Authorities said the motive behind the assault is still unclear, and multiple angles are being examined as part of the ongoing probe. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused, who has been on the run since the incident, while further investigation continues into the circumstances leading to the attack.
