West Bengal Authorities Arrest 14 Bangladeshi Nationals, Seize Counterfeit Aadhaar Cards
Bengal police arrest 14 Bangladeshi nationals, seize fake Aadhaar cards.
West Bengal police arrested 14 Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday in a crackdown targeting illegal documentation networks, recovering a significant number of fake Aadhaar cards and other identity documents. According to officials, the arrests were made following a coordinated raid in the Kolkata metropolitan area, where authorities had received intelligence about a ring producing and distributing counterfeit identification cards. The suspects were reportedly involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards to facilitate illegal activities such as employment fraud, financial scams, and potential misuse in government schemes.
Police sources stated that the operation also uncovered several tools and materials used for forging identity documents, including printers, scanners, and software programs designed to replicate official templates. “This is a serious breach of security, and we are investigating whether these cards were linked to larger criminal networks,” said a senior officer involved in the investigation.

The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and authorities have begun interrogations to trace the origin of the fake documents and determine if there were additional accomplices operating across state lines. Law enforcement officials emphasized that such fraudulent activities could have broader implications, including threats to national security and financial systems.
West Bengal has previously witnessed cases of fake identity documents being used to access government welfare programs and bank accounts illegally. The police have urged citizens to verify Aadhaar-related transactions and report any suspicious activity promptly.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are working closely with central agencies to prevent further circulation of counterfeit identity documents. Officials have also indicated that legal action will be taken against anyone found to be using or distributing these fraudulent cards.
