Varanasi Police Bust Sex Racket, Arrest Spa Owner Pankaj Chaubey

Five held in raid at Pritam Complex spa

Varanasi police dismantled a sex racket operating out of a spa in the basement of Pritam Complex, Cantt area, arresting five individuals, including the spa owner Pankaj Chaubey, on Friday evening. The operation, led by Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone) Neetu Kadian, followed a tip-off about illegal activities at the Hitech Spa Centre, police said on Saturday.

The raid resulted in the arrest of three women and two men, with Chaubey identified as the alleged mastermind. Authorities revealed that the network used Facebook and WhatsApp to lure clients, with bookings facilitated online. Police are analyzing mobile data from the accused to uncover further details. Chaubey, a repeat offender, was previously jailed in 2022 for running a similar racket at a spa in Kachhari, Varanasi, according to an Amar Ujala report.

The arrests come amid heightened police action against such rackets, with 21 individuals detained in a similar raid at a Maldahiya hotel in August 2024. A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, with investigations ongoing to identify additional accomplices.
