Uttar Pradesh Man Booked for Rape, Sharing Objectionable Videos of Relative on Social Media
Ballia police arrest a 40-year-old man for repeatedly raping a 29-year-old relative and recording and posting videos on Facebook.
A 40-year-old man from Ballia district was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his 29-year-old relative repeatedly and posting objectionable videos of her on Facebook, police said. The accused reportedly also threatened to implicate her family in false cases to silence her.
According to the complaint, the victim, who lives in rented accommodation in a different town, said the man, a relative from her native village, had visited her in February last year. During this visit, he allegedly assaulted her multiple times and recorded videos of the acts without her consent.
The woman claimed that the accused then shared the explicit videos on social media and used them to intimidate her and her family. She lodged a formal complaint with the local police, detailing the threats and harassment she had faced over several months.

Ballia police acted on the complaint and arrested the man, initiating further investigation into the case. Law enforcement officials have also advised the victim on legal remedies and support services available under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions, although the victim is an adult.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody, and police are continuing to examine digital evidence, including the videos posted online, to build the case against him. Authorities have assured strict action against any form of harassment or exploitation facilitated through social media platforms.
This incident has highlighted concerns over the misuse of technology for harassment and the vulnerability of women to coercion and intimidation within familial circles. Police have urged the public to report such cases immediately to prevent further trauma and ensure timely justice.
