UP STF Arrests UPSSSC Candidate For Using Bluetooth Device During Exam

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) has arrested an examination candidate for allegedly using a concealed Bluetooth device to cheat during the Lower Subordinate Services Main Examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC). The accused, identified as Brijesh Yadav, was caught while appearing for the examination at Dayanand Kanya Inter College in the Mahanagar area of Lucknow. Investigators said the alleged cheating arrangement involved a payment of Rs 10 lakh.

According to the STF, Yadav disclosed during questioning that a man identified as Ramesh Chandra Patel, a resident of Prayagraj, had allegedly provided him with a specially modified vest. The garment reportedly contained a hidden pocket designed to conceal a Bluetooth device, which was intended to allow communication during the examination. Investigators are examining the circumstances under which the device was supplied and how the alleged arrangement was organised before Yadav entered the examination centre.

The STF has alleged that the cheating setup was arranged in return for Rs 10 lakh. Officials said Patel allegedly facilitated communication through the Bluetooth device while the examination was underway. The details provided during Yadav’s interrogation have prompted investigators to examine Patel’s possible role in arranging similar methods for other candidates. Authorities are also looking into whether the arrested candidate was part of a wider organised network involved in helping aspirants cheat in competitive examinations.

Investigators said Patel is suspected of having assisted other candidates using similar Bluetooth-based methods in different examinations in the past. Following Yadav’s arrest, the STF has launched efforts to trace Patel and take further action against him. A team has reportedly been deployed to search for the alleged facilitator while officials continue to gather information about his previous activities and possible links with other people involved in examination malpractice.

The case has also brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by examination authorities in preventing candidates from using concealed electronic devices. Competitive examinations have increasingly required stricter checking procedures to detect communication equipment and other prohibited materials. The alleged use of a modified vest and a concealed Bluetooth device has added another dimension to the investigation, with authorities examining whether similar methods may have been used by other candidates.

The arrest of Yadav and the search for Patel are now at the centre of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are expected to determine whether additional candidates, intermediaries or other individuals were involved in the alleged cheating arrangement.
