#BreakingNews: UP Man Murders Wife Over Affair, Buries Her Under Bed; Arrested
Man arrested for allegedly murdering his 45-year-old wife over suspicions of her extramarital affair
In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, a 48-year-old labourer, Harikishan, was arrested for allegedly murdering his 45-year-old wife, Phoola Devi, over suspicions of her extramarital affair and burying her body inside their home. The gruesome discovery was made in Narpatpurwa locality, Ahata village, after the victim's brother grew suspicious and alerted authorities.
Harikishan, who worked in Haryana and had recently returned to his village, reportedly confronted his wife on October 6 after allegedly finding her in a compromising situation with a local man named Guddu. Enraged, he killed her and buried her body approximately five to six feet deep beneath his bed, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramanand Prasad Kushwaha. Phoola Devi was reported missing by her brother on October 13, prompting a police investigation.
The case took a chilling turn last Friday when the brother noticed freshly dug soil under Harikishan’s bed. Police were immediately informed, and upon excavation, they recovered Phoola Devi’s decomposed body. By then, Harikishan had fled the village, triggering a manhunt. The missing person complaint was converted into a murder case, and police teams were deployed to track the suspect. On Tuesday, Harikishan was apprehended in Durgapur Tapesi village in the neighbouring Barabanki district.

During interrogation, Harikishan confessed to the crime, admitting that his rage over his wife’s alleged affair drove him to commit the murder and conceal the body. The accused was produced before a local court and has been remanded to judicial custody, police confirmed.
This horrific case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about domestic violence and the extreme measures taken under suspicion of infidelity. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for Phoola Devi, as the village grapples with the tragedy that unfolded within the confines of a home.
