UK Authorities Notified as Fugitive Pune Gangster Nilesh Ghaywal Found Abroad
Fugitive Ghaywal tracked on visitor visa.
The British High Commission has verified that Pune-based gangster Nilesh Ghaywal is currently residing in London under a visitor visa, prompting swift notification to UK authorities regarding the revocation of his Indian passport. Pune police, pursuing Ghaywal for multiple serious offenses including murder and extortion, confirmed the development following their formal request for his detention and deportation.
Authorities suspect Ghaywal fled India using a fraudulently obtained passport shortly after associates allegedly shot and injured a victim in a Kothrud road rage incident on September 18. A lookout notice has been circulated, complemented by an Interpol blue corner notice to facilitate international cooperation in locating and apprehending the fugitive.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam disclosed that the High Commission affirmed Ghaywal's presence in London to visit his son, who is studying there. The response detailed his visa type, duration of stay, and expiry date, while confirming transmission of passport revocation details to relevant UK departments for immediate action.

Pune police have expanded their inquiry to uncover the visa procurement process, Ghaywal's exact location, his son's educational institution, and funding sources for the overseas education. These details are critical to building a comprehensive deportation case and tracing potential accomplices in the forgery network.
This confirmation intensifies extradition efforts, underscoring vulnerabilities in international travel documentation for wanted criminals. UK authorities are now obligated to monitor Ghaywal's movements, with Pune police preparing formal extradition proceedings to repatriate him for trial on pending charges.
