UAE Blames Iran After ADNOC Tanker Attack In Strait Of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates on Saturday accused Iran of carrying out a missile attack on a tanker belonging to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while the vessel was transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as a “hostile Iranian attack”, saying the incident did not result in any casualties. The allegation comes amid heightened tensions around shipping through the strategically important waterway.

According to the UAE Foreign Ministry, the tanker was targeted while travelling through the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy shipments. The ministry described the incident as an attack on an ADNOC vessel and condemned the use of a missile against the tanker. No deaths or injuries were reported in connection with the incident, according to the UAE statement.

ADNOC had also highlighted the risks facing its maritime operations in a statement issued on Friday. The company said that 15 of its vessels had been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of the ongoing war. According to the company, three of those vessels had come under attack during the week alone, indicating a sharp increase in incidents involving its fleet.
