Two arrested in Ballia for attacking Muslim youths after Muharram procession over wire dispute.

Police arrested two individuals on Wednesday in connection with a violent attack on Muslim youths returning from a Muharram procession in Khariaka village, under the Rewati police station jurisdiction. The incident, which took place on Sunday night, stemmed from a dispute over a severed electricity wire, authorities reported.

According to the FIR lodged by Mohammad Khurshid from Kavlen Pandey Ka Tola village, the altercation began when a wire connected to Manish Yadav’s house was allegedly cut during a Tazia procession. As the group returned from the local Karbala, they were ambushed by villagers wielding sticks and a country-made pistol, resulting in injuries to four individuals: Mohammad Intzaar, Naushad Ansari, Arsh Mohammad, and Tipu Ansari.

Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh confirmed the arrests of Sadhu Yadav (23) and Vishal Yadav (21) near Kolnala Tiraha, with a country-made pistol recovered from their possession. A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and investigations are ongoing to ensure justice.
