TVK Official Arrested In Tamil Nadu Over Alleged ₹25 Crore Scam
Police accused the TVK functionary of cheating investors in Tamil Nadu.
An office-bearer of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has been arrested in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district in connection with an alleged financial fraud case involving over ₹25 crore, police said on Monday. The accused, identified as Saravanan, is a central district executive committee member of the party led by actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay.
According to police officials from the District Crime Branch, Saravanan was taken into custody following multiple complaints from investors who accused him of collecting large sums of money by promising unusually high returns. Investigators said the alleged fraud involved amounts ranging from ₹30 lakh to ₹1.5 crore collected from various individuals over several years.
Police further stated that the accused reportedly used personal circumstances, including claims about his mother’s ill health and other emergencies, to gain the trust of lenders and secure additional funds. The case came to light after several victims approached authorities, alleging non-repayment of their investments and loans.

The arrest triggered tension in parts of Pudukkottai, where some protesters gathered and demanded strict action against the accused. According to police sources, a section of the crowd even urged authorities to hand over Saravanan so that they could “take care of him themselves,” prompting police to tighten security in the area to prevent further escalation.Officials are now examining financial records and transactions linked to the accused to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud and identify whether more individuals were involved.
The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out as authorities trace the flow of funds and verify investor complaints.The incident has also sparked political attention due to Saravanan’s position within TVK, with opposition voices questioning internal oversight within the party. However, no official statement has yet been issued by the party leadership regarding the arrest or the allegations.
