Tragic Road Accident In Rajasthan’s Balotra Claims Four Lives In Car-Bus Crash
Four killed in car-bus collision in Rajasthan’s Balotra district.
Four people were killed on Tuesday after a head-on collision between a car and a bus near Patodi village in Rajasthan’s Balotra district, police said. The victims, all construction labourers and members of the same family, were travelling for work when the accident occurred, triggering protests in the area over demands for action and compensation. According to police, the deceased were identified as Udaram (39), Rekharam (35), Jogaram (31) and Vishnaram (29), residents of Koduka village.
Officials said all four were brothers who worked as daily-wage construction labourers. They were on their way to Kalewa village for work when their vehicle met with the fatal collision. Police said the accident took place when a car collided head-on with a bus near Patodi village. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was completely mangled, leaving no chance of survival for its occupants. All four occupants died on the spot, authorities confirmed.
A motorcycle parked along the roadside was also hit by the bus following the collision. However, the rider of the motorcycle narrowly escaped without injuries, police added. The bus also sustained damage in the incident, though details regarding passengers on board were not immediately specified by officials. Soon after the accident, police teams reached the spot along with local residents to assist in rescue and recovery operations. The bodies of the deceased were extricated from the badly damaged vehicle and shifted to the mortuary at Patodi Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including possible negligence or speeding. The incident led to significant tension in the area, with grieving family members and villagers staging protests by blocking the Patodi road. Protesters demanded the arrest of the bus driver and adequate compensation for the families of the deceased. The blockade disrupted traffic movement in the region for some time. Officials from the local administration and police, including Pachpadra station house officer Geeta Kumari, arrived at the protest site to manage the situation.
Police engaged in discussions with the agitated crowd in an effort to restore order and convince them to withdraw the blockade. Authorities assured that the matter was under investigation. In a separate incident reported from Rajasthan’s Pali district on the same day, two people were killed and a woman was injured after a car lost control and struck a road divider. The back-to-back accidents have raised fresh concerns over road safety and driving conditions on highways across the state. Police said further investigation is underway in both cases, and detailed reports will be prepared after examining eyewitness accounts, vehicle conditions, and road circumstances at the accident sites.
