Top Cop Implicated in Wife’s Shocking Murder
Senior officer, family accused in alleged murder plot.
A senior CB-CID officer and four family members face a murder investigation after the body of the officer’s wife, Nitesh Singh, was found hanging at their official residence in Lucknow’s reserve police lines on July 30. Initially deemed a suicide, the case has taken a dramatic turn following a complaint by Nitesh’s brother, Pramod Kumar, who alleges the death was a “pre-planned” murder.
The FIR, filed at Mahanagar police station, names Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Pratap Singh, his parents Ramesh Chandra Verma and Sudha Chanda, his brother Anubhav Chanda, and sister-in-law Aastha. Kumar’s complaint accuses them of sustained harassment, physical assault, and involvement in extramarital affairs that led to Nitesh’s death. The couple, married since 2012 with three children, reportedly faced ongoing domestic disputes.
A senior police official confirmed the FIR and said the investigation is underway, with no arrests made yet. The allegations have shocked the community, casting a spotlight on the high-ranking officer and his family as authorities probe the circumstances surrounding Nitesh’s death.
