Three Die, Four Hurt as Violence Erupts at Maharashtra Pre-Wedding Event
Three people were killed and four injured after violence broke out during a pre-wedding ceremony in Maharashtra.
At least three people were killed and four others injured after a dispute escalated into a violent clash during a pre-wedding ceremony in Pimpalner village, located in Sakri tehsil of Dhule district in Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon. The police said the incident unfolded during celebrations in the run-up to a wedding when relatives got into a heated argument over a trivial issue, which rapidly turned into a deadly confrontation.
According to authorities, the argument began among family members gathered for the pre-wedding festivities and was triggered by a minor disagreement that reportedly centred on a WhatsApp message — and in some reports, the printing of names on a wedding card. Tensions quickly escalated, and members of two groups began attacking one another with sharp weapons at the venue.
Police identified the deceased as Suresh Gosavi (50), Sahil Gosavi (35) and Devendra Pawar (36), all of whom sustained fatal injuries in the altercation. The four injured have been taken to a local hospital for treatment, with their conditions described as serious but stable.

Following the violence, local police teams rushed to the scene and worked to restore order. They subsequently apprehended three suspects — Kantilal Gosavi (42), Jaswant Gosavi (36) and a driver who fled the site in a vehicle towards Gujarat. Officers intercepted and arrested the trio near the Gujarat-Navapur border, recovering a knife believed to have been used in the clashes.
Villagers assisted law enforcement by noting the fleeing vehicle’s registration and helping block potential escape routes, police said. The situation in Pimpalner has since been reported as calm, with additional security deployed to maintain peace in the area while investigations continue.
Local authorities are probing the circumstances leading up to the violent outburst, including the role of social media exchanges and any underlying disputes between families. The incident has shocked the community, which had been preparing for joyous celebrations before the tragic turn of events.
