Shocking! Three Labourers Murdered During Holi Celebration in Bengaluru

A festive Holi gathering turned deadly at an under-construction 14-storey apartment in Sarjapur, Bengaluru, where three labourers from Bihar were found murdered on Saturday evening. The victims, identified as Radhe Shyam, Deepu, and Ansu from Gopalganj, were plumbing and construction workers employed at the site, according to police reports.

The incident unfolded during a Holi celebration organized by the workers, who had been granted a three-day holiday. With the site in-charge absent, they invited fellow labourers from a nearby construction site to join the party. Trouble erupted when one victim received a phone call from the sister of an accused labourer, sparking a dispute over a suspected relationship. “The call led to a heated argument that quickly escalated into violence,” said C K Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural. The altercation saw the men attacking each other with bottles and iron rods.

Police arrived after receiving a distress call and discovered a grim scene: two bodies on the third floor and a third labourer, gravely injured, on the ground floor. The injured worker was rushed to hospital but succumbed en route. “We gathered preliminary information and confirmed the victims were celebrating Holi when the fight broke out,” Baba added.

The investigation is underway, with police forming special teams to track down the suspects. “We have details of two to three individuals involved and expect to apprehend them soon,” Baba assured. The killings highlight a rare violent turn to Holi festivities in Bengaluru, a city where the festival is less prominent but celebrated fervently among migrant workers. Authorities are now probing deeper into the interpersonal tensions that fueled this tragic clash.
