Thar SUV Mows Down Motorcyclist in Moti Nagar

Motorcyclist killed instantly, driver flees scene without trace.

A 40-year-old motorcyclist, Bhikshu Lal, was tragically killed late Friday night when a Mahindra Thar SUV struck his two-wheeler in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area, police reported. The collision, which occurred around 11 PM, resulted in Lal’s immediate death at the scene. The driver of the Thar fled, leaving authorities scrambling to track down the culprit.

According to a senior police officer, “The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped immediately after the incident. We have registered a case at Moti Nagar police station and formed multiple teams to apprehend the accused.” Police are analyzing CCTV footage from the area to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the suspect. The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem, and his family has been notified.

This marks the second fatal incident involving a Mahindra Thar in Delhi this month. On August 2, a similar tragedy unfolded near the 11 Murti landmark in Chanakyapuri, where a Thar struck two pedestrians, killing one and severely injuring the other. That case, too, remains under investigation, with no arrests reported yet.

The recurring accidents have raised concerns about road safety and reckless driving in the capital. Local residents are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly for high-powered vehicles like SUVs. As the investigation continues, authorities urge witnesses to come forward with any information that could lead to the suspect’s capture.
