Thane Man Exploited A 15-Year-Old For Six Months — POCSO Case Filed After Girl Tells Parents
A Thane man was arrested for molesting and extorting a 15-year-old schoolgirl over six months.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Thane for allegedly harassing a 15-year-old schoolgirl and extorting ₹50,000 from her over a period of six months, police said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Prathamesh Desai, was taken into custody after the girl’s parents filed a complaint on March 1.
According to officials from the Vartak Nagar police station, the incidents reportedly took place between September 2025 and February 2026. The First Information Report (FIR) states that the accused allegedly met the minor on multiple occasions and behaved inappropriately with her during that time.
Police said he allegedly threatened to inform the girl’s parents about their purported “relationship” if she did not comply with his demands. Under this pressure, he is accused of extracting a total of ₹50,000 from the teenager over several months.

The matter came to light after the girl informed her parents about the alleged harassment and financial demands. The family then approached the police, leading to the registration of a case and the arrest of the accused.
The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Officials said the investigation is ongoing. Police have reiterated their appeal to parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to promptly report any instances of misconduct involving minors.
