Teen Kills Stranger Over Rs 10 Near Liquor Shop in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada police probe teen allegedly killing a man after being refused Rs 10 for alcohol.
A 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed and killed a 49-year-old stranger, identified as Tataji, in Vijayawada's Kothapet area after the victim refused to give him Rs 10 to buy liquor, police reported on December 19, 2025. The incident occurred on the night of December 18 near a liquor shop, where the minor, reportedly already intoxicated, approached Tataji and demanded money for alcohol.
According to investigators, when Tataji declined the request and reportedly struck the teenager, the minor retaliated by pulling out a knife and fatally stabbing the victim in the chest. Tataji succumbed to his injuries at the scene, prompting an immediate response from local authorities, who apprehended the juvenile suspect shortly afterward.
The accused, a minor with no prior known connection to the victim, has been detained under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder, with proceedings to follow juvenile justice protocols. Police described the act as impulsive, triggered by the refusal and ensuing altercation, and confirmed that the weapon was recovered.
