Pune teacher arrested in NEET Biology paper leak case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Botany teacher from Pune in connection with the NEET-UG Biology question paper leak case, taking the total number of arrests in the probe to nine, officials said on Saturday.According to the CBI, the accused, identified as Manisha Gurunath Mandhare, was taken into custody from Delhi after being questioned by the agency. Officials stated that she had been involved in the NEET examination process in an expert capacity after being appointed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Investigators allege that Mandhare later came into contact with NEET aspirants through another accused, Manisha Wagmare, who had already been arrested in the case. The agency claims that she conducted coaching sessions for selected students at her residence in Pune in the weeks leading up to the examination. The CBI further stated that during these sessions, the teacher allegedly shared key questions and topics related to Botany and Zoology and instructed students to note them down in their notebooks and mark relevant portions in their textbooks.
Officials added that a significant number of these questions were found to closely match those that appeared in the actual NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3.Authorities said the investigation is focused on uncovering the wider network involved in the alleged leak, including those who facilitated access to exam-related material and coordinated with candidates. The agency is also examining digital evidence, communication records, and financial transactions linked to the accused individuals.
