Teacher Arrested for Molesting Student in Palghar
Teacher’s Assault Shocks Palghar Coaching Centre
A 42-year-old chemistry teacher, identified as Rahul Dubey, was arrested in Maharashtra’s Palghar district for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl at a private coaching centre in Nalasopara, police confirmed on Monday. The incident, which has sparked outrage, occurred on Saturday, August 23, at a reputed academy in the area.
According to the victim’s complaint, Dubey lured her to his office under the pretext of an extra class, where he allegedly molested her. The following day, he attempted to photograph her during a regular session, which she evaded. The girl, who reported prior inappropriate advances by Dubey, confided in her parents, who confronted the accused at the centre and handed him over to Nalasopara police.
The accused faces charges under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assault with intent to outrage modesty, alongside provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police have launched a detailed investigation, with Dubey in custody. The case has raised concerns about student safety in coaching institutes, prompting calls for stricter oversight.
