Suspected ULFA(I) militants attacked an Assam police commando camp days before state assembly elections.

Four personnel of the Assam Police were injured in a suspected militant attack on a police commando camp in the Jagun area of Tinsukia district early Sunday. The assault, believed to have been carried out by members of the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), took place around 2 am near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, raising fresh security concerns ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

Locals in the area reported hearing multiple explosions, suspected to be from grenades or rocket-propelled weapons, along with sustained gunfire during the night, indicating the intensity of the attack.

The injured personnel were rushed to a hospital in Dibrugarh for treatment. However, there has been no official confirmation yet from the police or district administration regarding the exact nature of the attack, casualties, or extent of damage caused at the site.
