Siya Goyal, Accused in Ketan Agarwal Murder, Gestures at Media Outside Home

A murder accused in the high-profile Ketan Agarwal case has drawn fresh attention after making an obscene gesture towards media personnel while being escorted by police in Pune. Siya Goyal, who has been arrested along with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary for the murder of her fiancé, was seen showing her middle finger to journalists outside her residence in Market Yard. The incident was captured in a 17-second video that quickly circulated on social media, triggering strong reactions from users.

The video shows Siya leaving her residence with police officers while wearing a black T-shirt and a printed scarf covering her face. As media personnel attempted to record her movement, she looked towards the cameras and made the offensive gesture before entering the police vehicle. The clip rapidly gained traction online, with many social media users criticising her behaviour and describing it as a sign of a lack of remorse following the serious allegations against her.

According to investigators, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are accused of murdering 30-year-old Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Police alleged that the couple pushed Ketan into a deep valley, resulting in his death. Initially, Siya claimed that Ketan had accidentally slipped and fallen from the fort, leading authorities to register an accidental death report. However, investigators later found inconsistencies in her statements and behaviour, prompting a detailed probe that resulted in the arrest of both accused.

Police have further alleged that the murder was carefully planned. Investigators said Siya and Ketan were engaged, with their families having fixed their wedding for November this year. According to the police, Chetan viewed Ketan as an obstacle to his relationship with Siya, leading the pair to allegedly conspire to eliminate him. Officials also claimed that an earlier attempt to kill Ketan on June 14 failed after he managed to save himself by grabbing vegetation along the cliff.

Investigators stated that after the failed attempt, Siya allegedly regained Ketan's trust by creating a distraction and pretending to comfort him before convincing him to revisit the fort a few days later. During the second visit, police alleged that Chetan joined the couple and that both accused pushed Ketan from behind into the gorge. The investigation is continuing as police work to gather additional evidence related to the alleged conspiracy and the sequence of events leading to the death.

Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were scheduled to be produced before the Wadgaon Court on Friday afternoon. Pune Rural Police are expected to seek an extension of their custody to continue the investigation, while the defence is likely to request judicial custody for the accused. The case has attracted widespread public attention because of the alleged premeditated nature of the crime, the relationship between those involved, and the latest controversy surrounding Siya's conduct while in police custody.
