Six Members Arrested In Hyderabad For Selling Fake Apple iPhones And Gadgets

Hyderabad police arrest six people for selling counterfeit Apple products brought from Ghaziabad.

A gang from Uttar Pradesh has been busted in Hyderabad for allegedly selling counterfeit Apple products at heavily discounted prices, police said. The racket involved fake iPhones, AirPods, and Apple smartwatches that were passed off as genuine devices to unsuspecting buyers across the city. Authorities said the group specifically targeted customers looking for cheaper alternatives to premium electronics.

According to police officials, the accused procured the fake gadgets from Ghaziabad and transported them to Hyderabad for resale. They reportedly approached individuals directly in public places and residential areas, offering the devices at prices significantly below market value. To gain trust, the gang used sealed packaging and persuasive sales tactics to convince buyers that the products were original.

Following multiple complaints from victims who later discovered the devices were counterfeit, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Acting on leads, a special team arrested six members of the gang on Wednesday. Officials said the arrested individuals are part of a larger group of nine people involved in the operation, suggesting a wider network behind the racket.

During the raid, police recovered several fake electronic items, including mobile phones, wireless earphones, and smartwatches, along with two motorcycles allegedly used for transporting and distributing the products. Assistant Commissioner of Police Srikanth Goud said the accused relied on simple but effective tactics such as showcasing sealed boxes and offering attractive discounts to mislead buyers into believing the products were authentic.

Police added that three other members of the gang are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them. Investigators are also examining whether the group operated similar frauds in other parts of the city or beyond Hyderabad. All six arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody as the probe continues into the broader network and supply chain of counterfeit goods.

Authorities have also urged consumers to remain cautious while purchasing branded electronics at unusually low prices, warning that such deals often turn out to be counterfeit products lacking warranty, quality assurance, and safety standards.
