Siddaramaiah Aligns with Rahul on Allegations of Election Fraud

Siddaramaiah backs Rahul, alleges BJP voter list manipulation.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has amplified Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s explosive claims, accusing the BJP of orchestrating widespread electoral fraud by tampering with voter lists across India. In a hard-hitting PTI Videos interview, Siddaramaiah alleged that the BJP is systematically removing legitimate voters and inserting fake names into electoral rolls.

"This isn’t just speculation—it's happening in Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, and they’re planning it for Bihar too," Siddaramaiah warned, pointing to a deliberate pattern of manipulation. He accused the Election Commission of India of losing its independence, claiming it now operates under the BJP-led central government’s influence. "The Election Commission is no longer fair or free—it’s a puppet of the ruling party," he charged.

Siddaramaiah declared that democracy itself is at risk and vowed that the Congress would launch a nationwide movement to expose these irregularities and push for urgent electoral reforms.

On another front, the Chief Minister strongly advocated for a nationwide caste census to assess socio-economic, educational, and political disparities. "We need to know if independence and equality have truly reached everyone," he said, emphasizing the Constitution’s role in erasing inequality. He noted that Karnataka’s own caste census is underway, with authorities given three months to complete it.

Addressing the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam, Siddaramaiah dismissed it as a fabricated case meant to harass him and his family. "There’s no money laundering here—it’s a baseless attack," he said, praising the Supreme Court’s recent remarks criticizing the misuse of agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for political vendettas. "The Chief Justice warned the BJP: fight elections, not court cases," he added.

Siddaramaiah also touched on the tragic June 4 stadium stampede in Karnataka, which claimed 11 lives. He confirmed that the state Cabinet has accepted an enquiry report by retired High Court judge Justice Michael D’Cunha. Criminal cases have been filed against officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the event management agency DNA, and police personnel. A separate inquiry into the police’s role is also planned.
