Shooter Panicked In First Attempt: Chargesheet Reveals Details Of Firing At Rohit Shetty’s House

Intruders reportedly fled Rohit Shetty’s home, followed by alleged gang-related call.

Bollywood Filmmaker and Producer Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai was targeted in a firing incident earlier this year, with investigators now detailing in a chargesheet that the attack was allegedly orchestrated by jailed gangster Anmol Bishnoi and carried out after an initial failed attempt by the shooter. According to a 1,624-page chargesheet filed by the Mumbai Police, the shooter identified as Deepak Sharma was first sent to open fire outside Shetty’s Juhu residence in January.

However, Sharma reportedly panicked during the initial attempt, hiding outside the premises for around 30 minutes before fleeing without discharging any bullets. Following the failed attempt, Sharma was allegedly reprimanded over the phone by Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The communication, as cited in the chargesheet, indicates that a new date was subsequently fixed for a second attempt after the initial plan did not succeed.

The second attempt took place around 12:45 am on February 1, when Sharma allegedly returned to the location and fired five rounds at Shetty’s nine-storey residential building in the Juhu area. One of the bullets reportedly struck the glass of a gym located on the first floor of the building. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Investigators further claim that during the second attempt, Anmol Bishnoi remained in contact with the shooter through a live video call, allegedly providing instructions and encouraging him during the execution of the attack. The chargesheet also notes that Bishnoi, who has been linked to multiple criminal cases and was deported from the United States before being arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), played a coordinating role in the incident.

The case highlights concerns over organised criminal networks operating across borders and their alleged involvement in high-profile intimidation attempts. Mumbai Police officials have stated that the detailed chargesheet lays out the sequence of planning, execution, and communication between those allegedly involved in the firing incident. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to examine the broader network and possible additional links connected to the case.
