Sheikh Hasina Issues Eid Message Highlighting Bangladesh’s Political And Social Challenges
Sheikh Hasina urges unity, citing Bangladesh’s ongoing crisis during Eid message.
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to citizens, while expressing concern over what she described as widespread suffering and political instability in the country. In a statement shared through the Awami League on social media, she said the festival has arrived during a period of “profound crisis and hardship” for the people of Bangladesh.
Hasina stated that the country has been facing prolonged distress, alleging that leaders and workers of the Awami League have been subjected to attacks, legal cases, and imprisonment over the past several months. She also claimed that ordinary citizens are enduring growing difficulties, reflecting what she described as a deepening national crisis affecting multiple sections of society.
The former Prime Minister further highlighted concerns over rising social issues, including violence affecting women and children, and what she termed a deterioration in law and order. She pointed to incidents of insecurity, economic strain, and public safety challenges, arguing that these developments have contributed to a sense of uncertainty across the country.

Emphasising the significance of Eid-ul-Adha, Hasina said the festival represents values of sacrifice, devotion, and resilience. She expressed hope that these values would help citizens draw strength during difficult times and encourage unity in the face of ongoing challenges confronting the nation.
She added that even in adversity, people should remain committed to truth, national welfare, and collective responsibility. According to her statement, perseverance and unity are essential for overcoming the current situation and rebuilding stability in the country.
The Awami League has in recent weeks also raised concerns over political violence and public safety in Bangladesh, warning of worsening conditions and calling attention to what it describes as a growing governance crisis. The developments come amid continuing political tensions in the country, with differing narratives emerging from ruling and opposition political groups regarding law and order and national stability.
