Sexual Aassault Case: Rahul Mamkootathil Appears Before SIT After Expulsion From Congress

Expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil appeared before a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday in connection with a sexual assault case registered against him, officials said.
Mamkootathil, who was recently expelled from the Indian National Congress following the emergence of the allegations, reached the SIT office as part of the ongoing probe. The case was registered based on a complaint accusing him of sexual misconduct, prompting the constitution of a dedicated investigative team to examine the charges.
Police sources indicated that the MLA was questioned regarding the circumstances outlined in the complaint and other related aspects of the case. Investigators are understood to be verifying statements and reviewing evidence submitted by the complainant as part of the inquiry process. Officials have not disclosed further details, citing the sensitivity of the matter.
