Security Agencies Seize Rs 182-Crore Captagon Drugs in Operation Ragepill
Security forces seize Rs 182-crore Captagon drug haul.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday announced that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized what is being described as the first-ever consignment of Captagon, a highly addictive synthetic drug, worth approximately ₹182 crore in a major anti-narcotics operation named “Op Ragepill.”
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said the operation reflects the government’s continued push toward its stated goal of building a “drug-free India.” He also described Captagon as a so-called “Jihadi drug,” noting that the seized consignment was allegedly destined for the Middle East and formed part of a larger international trafficking network.
According to Shah, the operation led not only to the interception of the drug shipment but also to the arrest of a foreign national believed to be involved in the smuggling attempt. He said the breakthrough highlights the coordinated efforts of Indian enforcement agencies in dismantling transnational drug trafficking routes that use India as a transit hub.

The Home Minister stated that the government follows a zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics trafficking and vowed strict action against all attempts to move drugs through Indian territory. He emphasized that enforcement agencies would continue to target every gram of illicit substances entering or leaving the country, reinforcing the broader national security and public health objectives of the administration.
Captagon, a synthetic stimulant often associated with illicit drug networks in parts of West Asia, has been flagged by global authorities as a growing concern due to its widespread misuse and links to organized crime. Indian agencies have increasingly focused on intercepting such shipments as part of expanded surveillance and intelligence-driven operations.
The seizure is being seen as a significant development in India’s anti-drug enforcement efforts, with officials crediting enhanced coordination between investigative agencies for the successful execution of the operation and the disruption of a suspected international trafficking route.
