Salman Khan Connection Fuels Gang's 2nd Attack on Kapil Sharma’s Cafe
Gangsters target Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada again.
Kapil Sharma, the beloved Indian comedian and actor, is reeling after his newly opened Kaps Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, was targeted in a second shooting incident within a month. On August 7, 2025, at approximately 4:40 AM, Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to reports of at least 25 gunshots fired at the cafe located in the 8400 block of 120 Street, Newton neighborhood. The attack caused significant damage to the cafe’s windows and building, though no injuries were reported as staff inside escaped unharmed.
This marks the second assault on Kaps Cafe, following a similar incident on July 10, 2025, when 10 bullet holes were found in a window and another pane was shattered. The cafe, which opened on July 4, 2025, with a vision to foster “warmth, community, and joy,” issued a statement on Instagram after the first attack, vowing to stand firm against violence. “To have violence intersect with our dream is heartbreaking, but we are not giving up,” the cafe declared.
Gang Involvement and Salman Khan Connection
Two notorious gangs, led by Gurpreet Singh (alias Goldy Dhillon) and Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the latest attack via social media. A chilling video surfaced, capturing the gunfire and a voice warning, “We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.” The Crime Branch is investigating whether the attackers conducted reconnaissance around Sharma’s home or shooting sets in India, and authorities are considering providing police protection for the comedian.

The primary motive appears to be Sharma’s close association with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has been a target of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang since 1998. The gang’s animosity stems from Khan’s alleged involvement in hunting a blackbuck, an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community, during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur. Khan has faced multiple threats, including a shooting at his Bandra residence on April 14, 2024, when two bike-borne assailants fired four rounds and fled. Khan was subsequently upgraded to Y+ security.
The name Shubham Lonkar, linked to the murder of former minister Baba Siddique—another close associate of Khan—surfaced in posts claiming responsibility for the cafe attack. Sources suggest the Bishnoi gang aims to instill fear in Bollywood, particularly among those connected to Khan, while Sharma’s soaring popularity may also make him a high-profile target.
Additional Motives: Cultural Sensitivities and Gang Agendas
The first attack on July 10 was claimed by a member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a terrorist outfit recognized by the Canadian government. The group alleged that a participant on Sharma’s show made “humorous” remarks mocking the traditional dress and conduct of Nihang Sikhs, offending their community. BKI’s involvement adds a layer of complexity, as one of its members, Laddi, is on the National Investigation Agency’s most-wanted list in India.
Authorities believe the gangs are exploiting Sharma’s prominence to amplify their influence and create an atmosphere of terror in Bollywood. The repeated targeting of Kaps Cafe suggests a coordinated effort to send a message, with the potential for further escalation, as hinted in the threatening video.
Community Resilience and Ongoing Investigation
Despite the violence, Kaps Cafe remains steadfast. “We will continue to be a symbol of warmth and community,” the cafe stated, emphasizing its commitment to its patrons. Surrey Police are actively investigating both incidents, analyzing forensic evidence and social media claims to identify the perpetrators. The investigation is also exploring possible links between the Canadian attacks and threats against Sharma in Mumbai.
As the probe deepens, the Indian entertainment industry watches with bated breath, concerned about the growing audacity of gang activities targeting its stars. For now, Kapil Sharma and his team are determined to keep Kaps Cafe a beacon of positivity, even in the face of relentless threats.
