Roof Collapse Kills Two Kids in Mathura
Dilapidated building’s roof claims lives, injures six.
A devastating roof collapse at a rundown two-storey building in Mathura’s Nakasa Mohalla, Kosi Kala area, claimed the lives of a 12-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl on Monday, while leaving six others with serious injuries, police reported. The incident, which occurred in a densely populated residential area, has raised concerns about the safety of aging structures in the region.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat, the victims were rushed to a hospital in Mathura for urgent medical care. Despite efforts, the two minors succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The six injured individuals, whose conditions range from critical to stable, are still receiving medical attention, with local authorities closely monitoring their recovery.
The collapsed building, described as dilapidated by officials, has been sealed off to prevent further incidents. Teams from the Public Works Department and Revenue Department arrived at the scene to assess the structural damage and investigate the cause of the collapse. Preliminary reports suggest years of neglect and lack of maintenance may have contributed to the tragedy, though a detailed inquiry is underway.
