Retired IAF Personnel Murdered in Ghaziabad, Police Name Sons as Masterminds

Greedy sons orchestrate father's murder for Ghaziabad home.

A retired Indian Air Force personnel, Yogesh, aged 58 and originally from Baghpat district, was brutally gunned down on December 26 while returning to his residence in Ashok Vihar Colony within the Loni area of Ghaziabad. Police announced on Thursday that the shocking murder was meticulously planned and executed by the victim's own sons, who allegedly conspired out of resentment and greed after their father repeatedly demanded they vacate the family property.

Investigations revealed that the sons, enraged by the eviction pressure, recruited a local neighbor named Arvind, aged 32, to act as a contract killer. Arvind reportedly carried out the fatal attack in collaboration with his brother-in-law Naveen, a serving police constable stationed in Kaushambi district, with the duo approaching on a motorcycle and firing shots at close range, as confirmed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Siddhartha Gautam.

Arvind was arrested on Wednesday evening and appeared before the chief judicial magistrate's court in Ghaziabad the following day, where he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. During questioning, he confessed to the crime, leading authorities to recover a .315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and expended shells from his possession, providing crucial evidence in the case.

The victim's sons and the implicated constable Naveen continue to evade capture, with police launching extensive operations across the region to apprehend the remaining suspects. The involvement of a serving police officer has raised serious concerns about complicity and abuse of position within law enforcement circles.

This harrowing incident exposes a profound familial betrayal, where property disputes escalated into cold-blooded murder, claiming the life of a dedicated former serviceman who had served the nation. Authorities have assured that the investigation remains active, aiming to bring all perpetrators to justice and uncover any further details surrounding the conspiracy.
