Released on Bail in POCSO Case, TV Actor Rohit Chandel Shares Cryptic Post
Chandel reflects on dharma and victory after securing bail.
Television actor Rohit Chandel has made his first social media post after being granted bail in an alleged Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case involving a 16-year-old co-star. Rohit, 30, was arrested by Ghatkopar police on July 10 after the minor accused him of stalking, harassing and assaulting her. He was granted bail on September 10. In his first post following the development, the actor shared a message centred on dharma and victory while also acknowledging the conclusion of his television show Sairaab.
Rohit shared a photograph of himself standing near the sea in traditional attire, with his hands folded in prayer. He captioned the post with the Sanskrit phrase “Yato Dharmastato Jayaḥ”, which means “Where there is dharma, there is victory.” The phrase is associated with the Mahabharata and is also inscribed beneath the emblem of the Indian judiciary, representing righteousness and justice. The post marked Rohit’s first public social media update after his release on bail.
The actor also addressed the end of Sairaab, in which he played the character Ishaan. The show premiered on June 2 and is scheduled to air its final episode on September 14 on Star Plus and JioHotstar. In a lengthy message to the cast, crew and viewers, Rohit expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play Ishaan and thanked the production team, co-actors and supporting staff for their support during what he described as a difficult period.

Rohit specifically thanked several members of the Sairaab team, including Saibal, Leena, Sanket, Nitin, Yogi, Garima Dimri, Rahul, Madirakshi, Krishna Kaul and others. He also expressed appreciation to the show’s viewers for their continued support and encouragement. While the programme is coming to an end, Rohit indicated that he hopes to reconnect with audiences in what he described as the next chapter of his career.
Rohit was taken into custody by Ghatkopar police after the 16-year-old co-star accused him of stalking, harassment and assault. Police registered a case under the POCSO Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to statements attributed to the Ghatkopar police at the time, the actor and the girl were co-actors, and the allegations included repeated attempts to contact her despite her blocking him. He was subsequently placed in judicial custody before being granted bail on September 10.
Rohit is known for his television roles as Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store. His bail marks the latest development in the case, while his recent social media posts have focused on themes of righteousness, gratitude and his work on Sairaab. The allegations remain part of the ongoing legal proceedings, and the grant of bail does not amount to a determination of guilt or innocence.
