Rajasthan Horror: Man Found Dead in Drum, Family and Landlord’s Son Vanish
Man’s body in drum, family vanishes
A chilling murder case has gripped Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district after the decomposed body of Hansram, alias Suraj, was discovered stuffed inside a blue drum on the rooftop of his rented home in Adarsh Colony, Kishangarhbas. The 35-year-old brick kiln worker from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had been living in the rented rooftop room with his wife, Sunita, and their three children—Harshal, Nandini, and Golu—for just six weeks. All four, along with the landlord’s son, Jitendra Sharma, have been missing since Saturday evening, deepening the mystery.
The gruesome discovery was made on Sunday afternoon when the elderly landlady, overwhelmed by a foul smell, alerted the police. Officers found Hansram’s body, bearing a deep throat wound from a sharp weapon, concealed under a pile of clothes in a sealed drum. A heavy stone was placed over the drum’s lid, and salt had been sprinkled on the body to hasten decomposition, suggesting a deliberate attempt to conceal the crime, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan. “The body was in an advanced state of decay,” Nirwan noted, adding that forensic teams are analyzing evidence to determine the time and cause of death.
Hansram, known to struggle with alcohol addiction, frequently drank with Jitendra, whose wife had passed away years earlier. Police suspect a possible connection between Jitendra and Sunita, with Kishangarhbas SHO Jitendra Singh Shekhawat stating, “Prima facie, it appears Sunita and Jitendra may have conspired to kill Hansram.” The absence of the three children adds a troubling layer to the case, with police uncertain whether they are victims or part of the disappearance.

The incident echoes a chilling March 2025 case in Meerut, where a man’s dismembered body was found in a drum, hidden by his wife and her lover. In that case, the crime was exposed after the couple’s daughter repeatedly said, “Papa drum mein hain” (Papa is in the drum). While no such clues have surfaced in Alwar, the similarities have heightened local alarm.
Police have launched a manhunt for Sunita, her children, and Jitendra, with forensic teams scouring the scene for fingerprints, DNA, and other evidence. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a murder case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Efforts are also underway to contact Hansram’s relatives in Uttar Pradesh.
As the investigation unfolds, Adarsh Colony residents remain shaken. “It’s horrifying to think this happened so close to us,” said a neighbor, who requested anonymity. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to unravel this disturbing case.
