Punjab Police Gets Two Malaysia-Based KZF Operatives Deported in Railway Terror Case
Two Malaysia-based suspects deported in railway terror plot investigation.
Punjab Police, in coordination with central intelligence agencies, has secured the deportation from Malaysia of two alleged operatives linked to a banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module accused of targeting railway infrastructure in the state, including the Dedicated Freight Corridor network. The development is part of an ongoing investigation into multiple attempts to disrupt rail operations through explosives-based attacks.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the two accused were taken into custody by Punjab Police upon their arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. They were subsequently transported to Punjab for further interrogation and investigation into their alleged role in the terror network and related incidents.
The accused have been identified as Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Ambala, and Manjeet Singh of Patiala. According to police, both individuals were operating from Malaysia and were part of a KZF-backed module involved in planning and facilitating attacks on critical railway infrastructure in Punjab. Authorities allege that they played a key role in coordinating logistics and supporting operational aspects of the network from abroad.

The arrests are linked to a broader investigation following the dismantling of the alleged terror module believed to be responsible for an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on the Sirhind railway track on January 23, as well as an attempted explosion on the same stretch near Shambhu in Patiala on April 27. Police have already arrested four individuals in connection with these incidents, described as radicalised operatives involved in the conspiracy.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement agencies recovered a significant cache of arms and explosives. The seized materials included a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, a metallic IED weighing 2.296 kg along with detonators and a battery, two packets of RDX weighing 1.456 kg, two hand grenades, and six high-end pistols with magazines and ammunition. Officials said the recovery indicated a well-organised attempt to carry out coordinated attacks on transport infrastructure.
Authorities stated that the deportation marks a major breakthrough in dismantling cross-border support networks allegedly used to fund and facilitate terror activities. Investigations are continuing to determine the extent of the module’s operations, including its funding channels, international links, and potential plans for further attacks aimed at destabilising public infrastructure and maintaining law and order in the region.
