Pregnant Woman Among 2 Killed In Rain-Induced House Collapse In Himachal Pradesh
Pregnant woman among two killed in Sirmaur house collapse.
Two women, including a 32-year-old pregnant woman, were killed and three others injured after a two-storey house collapsed amid heavy rains in Shishdiyadhar village of Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the afternoon at a house belonging to Bhim Singh Chauhan, with local residents joining rescue efforts following the collapse.
The deceased were identified as 57-year-old Nirmala and her daughter Pooja, wife of Amit Rana. Pooja, 32, was pregnant at the time of the incident. The three injured people were rescued and taken to Rajgarh Civil Hospital, where they were undergoing treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.
Another rain-related incident was reported from Ramapur Jattan village, where a 12-year-old boy was swept away by strong currents in a rain-fed drain. Amarjit Kumar had been playing with friends near a rivulet when he was carried away by the current. His body was later recovered from neighbouring Haryana, according to sources.

Separately, four people were killed and nine others injured when a vehicle carrying villagers and family members returning with the body of a man plunged into a gorge near Gatlog in Sirmaur during the early hours of Wednesday. The group had been bringing back the body of Jagdish Sharma, who had been declared dead at Sangrah Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The four people killed in the road accident were identified as Rajendra, 37, and Des Raj, 23, from Arlu village, and Rikhi Ram, 58, and Ram Gopal, 62, from Chinad village. The injured were referred to Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College and Hospital in Nahan, with four of them reported to be in critical condition.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed grief over the road accident and directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance to the affected families. He also instructed officials to ensure immediate and appropriate medical treatment for those injured. The incidents come amid heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh, which has led to multiple weather-related emergencies in the state.
