PM Modi Launches India’s First PM MITRA Textile Park in Madhya Pradesh
PM launches Rs 23,000 Cr textile hub in Madhya Pradesh.
On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for India’s inaugural Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, marking a monumental step toward boosting the nation’s textile sector. The event, held in Bhainsola village, underscores Modi’s commitment to industrial growth and rural empowerment, as he also launched two key health initiatives amid cheers from thousands of attendees who extended birthday greetings.
The PM MITRA scheme, a flagship Centre initiative, aims to create seven world-class textile hubs across Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Spanning 2,158 acres, the Dhar park will feature cutting-edge infrastructure, including a 20 MLD common effluent treatment plant, a 10 MVA solar power plant, uninterrupted water and electricity supply, modern roads, and 81 plug-and-play units. Designed as a self-sustaining industrial township, it will incorporate housing and social amenities, particularly for women workers, transforming it into an ideal hub for employment and skill development.
Cotton farmers in the region stand to gain immensely, with enhanced market linkages and value addition opportunities. Leading textile giants have already pledged Rs 23,146 crore in investments, signaling strong industry confidence and projecting thousands of direct and indirect jobs. This park is poised to position India as a global textile powerhouse, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ vision by integrating the entire value chain from spinning to apparel.

In a parallel effort to promote women’s well-being, Modi launched the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, running until October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. The initiative emphasizes mental health, gender equity, adolescent anaemia management, and active lifestyles, addressing the often-overlooked health needs of women. National Health Mission’s MP Director Dr Saloni Sidana highlighted the cultural tendency for women to prioritize family over self, urging men to support and women to allocate daily time for self-care. Dr Rachana Dubey, Director of NHM’s IEC Bureau, stressed screening for conditions like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) among adolescents, with new centers planned for diagnosis and treatment.
Complementing this, the 8th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ focuses on curbing sugar and edible oil intake, early childhood care, education, and leveraging local nutritious foods. These campaigns aim to foster healthier families and communities, integrating seamlessly with the economic upliftment from the textile park.
Modi’s second birthday visit to Madhya Pradesh—following 2022—resonates as a symbol of his personal connection to the state. The rally in Dhar brimmed with enthusiasm, as locals celebrated the PM’s milestone while envisioning a prosperous future. This multi-faceted event not only catalyzes industrial innovation but also reinforces social welfare, embodying a holistic approach to India’s development narrative.
