Panic in Guwahati: Bomb Threat at Co-District Office Exposed as Hoax!

Guwahati Gripped by Fear as Bomb Threat at Co-District Office Proves Hoax!

Chaos erupted in Assam’s capital when a chilling bomb threat email targeted the Dispur co-district office in Basistha, only to be unmasked as a hoax after a tense police operation. The alarming message, received Thursday afternoon, sent shockwaves through the city, prompting a swift response from Guwahati Police.

“We conducted an exhaustive search of the premises and found no trace of any explosive device,” a police official confirmed to PTI. The scare intensified when a suspicious bag, left unattended near a two-wheeler, sparked fears of a hidden bomb. “It turned out two visitors had forgotten their bag while at the office. They returned shortly after, clearing the confusion,” the official added.

This isn’t the first time Guwahati has faced such panic. Similar hoax emails targeting Gauhati High Court on April 22 and May 11 rattled nerves but proved baseless. As authorities remain on high alert, the city breathes a sigh of relief—yet questions linger about who’s behind these disruptive pranks.
