Ola Electric Employee’s Suicide Probe Escalates as Case Moves to Central Crime Branch

Ola Electric employee’s suicide probe escalated to CCB amid harassment and salary allegations.

The investigation into the tragic suicide of Ola Electric employee Aravind Kannan has been escalated to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) following a formal petition by his family. The 38-year-old engineer, who worked as a Homologation Engineer for Ola Electric since 2022, died by suicide in September 2025, leaving behind a 28-page handwritten note that accused senior company officials, including founder Bhavish Aggarwal, of sustained workplace harassment and non-payment of salary.

The police registered a case against the founder and other senior officials in October under sections related to abetment of suicide and common intention. Aravind had allegedly consumed poison after enduring prolonged mental harassment and withheld salary, according to the detailed note. His brother, Ashwin Kannan, expressed concerns over suspicious financial transactions, including a large salary payment made to Aravind’s bank account two days posthumously, which the family believes warrants a thorough probe.

In response, Ola Electric has stated its full cooperation with the authorities, maintaining that the company is committed to fostering a safe and respectful work environment. However, the family continues to seek accountability, fearing concealment of internal failings. The CCB will now oversee a comprehensive investigation that includes examining the suicide note, financial dealings, and the role of top management in the engineer’s distress.

The case has intensified scrutiny on workplace culture within Ola Electric, raising questions about employee welfare in corporate environments. Lawyers representing the family hope the CCB’s involvement will ensure transparency and justice for Aravind. The investigation’s outcome may have broader implications for corporate governance and worker rights in India’s growing tech and electric vehicle sectors.
