Notorious Gangster and Associates Nabbed Following Police Shootout in Delhi
Lallu and two accomplices arrested after Rohini encounter; firearms recovered, two escape.
In a pre-dawn operation that turned into a high-stakes gunfight, Delhi Police arrested notorious gangster Lallu, alias Ashroo, and two associates in Rohini's Budh Vihar area early Saturday, officials confirmed. The encounter, erupting around 2:40 a.m. near Bankey Bihari Temple in Sector-24, underscores the relentless turf wars plaguing the capital's outskirts, where gang rivalries often spill into violent reprisals involving vigilante groups like the Gau Rakshak Dal.
Acting on intelligence that the suspects planned to target the residence of a prominent Gau Rakshak Dal member, a Budh Vihar police team intercepted a suspicious white sedan. The dal leader had recently organised a 'Maha Sabha' public meeting in response to an alleged assault on three individuals by Lallu’s gang, with the attack video brazenly shared on Instagram to bolster their street cred.
When signalled to halt, the vehicle rammed into a police car, and the occupants unleashed a barrage of gunfire, prompting retaliatory shots from the officers. The brief but intense exchange saw six rounds fired by police and seven by the accused, resulting in the recovery of two sophisticated pistols and a country-made firearm from the scene.
Lallu, 23, from Mangeram Park and a key figure in the Gogi gang—named after slain gangster Tillu Tajpuriya's rival—sustained leg injuries, as did his 21-year-old aide, Irfan. Both are stable in the hospital. The third arrestee, 30-year-old Nitesh from Mathura, was detained unharmed at the spot, while two other accomplices escaped by vaulting a wall near Rithala's Ganda Nala drain. Police have launched a manhunt, leveraging CCTV footage and informant networks to track the fugitives.

Lallu, who leads his own 'Nassroo gang' in honour of his incarcerated brother, faces five prior cases, including two attempts to murder and two robberies, reflecting a pattern of escalating criminality in northwest Delhi's underbelly. Irfan has two attempted murder charges, while Nitesh's record involves cheating offences. A fresh FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempted murder, illegal arms possession, and resisting arrest has been filed at Budh Vihar station.
This bust disrupts a nexus blending gang muscle with social media bravado, as authorities intensify crackdowns amid a 15% rise in organised crime incidents in the NCR this year, per Delhi Police data.
