No Remorse from 'Baba' in Poison-Laced Ladoo Triple Murder Case

Kamruddin, alias Baba, is remorseless in interrogation over poison murders.

A 72-year-old occult practitioner accused of killing three people with poison-laced sweets in outer Delhi’s Peeragarhi has shown “no signs of remorse” during sustained interrogation, police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Kamruddin alias Baba, was arrested and sent to five-day police remand as investigators intensify the probe.

According to officials, Kamruddin allegedly administered poison mixed in ladoos to the victims under the pretext of conducting tantric rituals purportedly aimed at generating wealth. The incident, which has shocked the local community, is being treated as a case of triple murder. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims pending further investigation.

“Baba is showing no signs of remorse during sustained interrogation,” a senior police official said. Investigators are currently questioning him to establish the sequence of events, possible motives and whether others may have been involved in the crime.

Police have also widened the scope of the investigation to examine the accused’s financial transactions, personal contacts and potential links to similar cases in other states. Officials are scrutinising whether he may have exploited individuals by promising supernatural remedies or financial gains through occult practices.

The case has raised concerns about fraudulent spiritual practices and the vulnerability of individuals seeking solutions to personal or financial distress. Authorities said further details will emerge as the interrogation continues and forensic reports are analysed.
