Murdered in A Sack! Grisly Palghar Discovery Shocks Community

Grisly Find in Palghar: Woman’s Body Stuffed in Sack Pulled from River

A gruesome discovery shocked residents of Palghar district on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, when villagers spotted a sack floating in the Wagh River near Ghatkarpada, along the Nashik-Mokhda-Jawhar Road.

Police retrieved the sack around 10 AM IST, revealing the decomposed body of an unidentified woman in her 20s, stuffed inside. The find has triggered a murder investigation, with authorities suspecting a calculated effort to dispose of evidence.

The official from Mokhda police station noted the body showed signs of strangulation—swollen neck tissue and bruising—suggesting she was killed before being bagged and dumped.

The advanced decomposition hints she may have been in the river for days, complicating identification. Sent for post-mortem at a local government hospital, the body’s condition could delay forensic breakthroughs. A case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (evidence tampering) is registered, but no suspects or motives have surfaced yet.

As the probe kicks off, police are scouring the area for clues to unmask the killer and the victim. This grim find echoes a rising tide of violent crimes in the region, leaving Palghar on edge as answers remain submerged—for now.
