Mumbai Man Kills Wife’s Alleged Lover After Inviting Him Home: Police

Mumbai man arrested after killing wife’s alleged lover during drinks.

A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife’s suspected lover following a drinking session at his residence in Mumbai’s Goregaon area, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Aarey locality and has triggered an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the killing. According to officials from the Aarey police station, the accused, identified as Bhimraj Omprakash Sharma, had invited Vikas Ashok Bhusare to his home on Wednesday evening.

Police said Sharma suspected Bhusare of being involved in a relationship with his wife. The three reportedly consumed alcohol together before an argument broke out inside the residence. Investigators said Sharma allegedly warned Bhusare against meeting his wife again during the gathering. Moments later, the accused allegedly attacked Bhusare with a knife and slit his throat in front of his wife. The victim sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene before medical assistance could arrive, police officials said.

After the incident, Sharma reportedly fled into the nearby forested area surrounding Aarey Colony in an attempt to evade arrest. Police teams launched a search operation and apprehended him nearly three hours later after a chase through the area. Authorities have since taken the accused into custody and registered a case of murder under relevant legal provisions. Police officials stated that Bhusare had earlier been accused of harassing Sharma’s wife and allegedly continued meeting her despite repeated objections from the accused.

Police said statements from witnesses and family members are being recorded, while forensic and technical evidence from the crime scene is also being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
