Meerut Shocker! Woman, Lover Kill Husband, Stage Snakebite Death

In a shocking case reminiscent of the Saurabh Rajput murder, a woman named Ravita, with the help of her lover Amardeep, allegedly strangled her husband Amit Kashyap (25), alias Mickey, and staged his death as a snakebite in Akbarpur Sadat village, Bahsuma area, Meerut.

The incident, which occurred on April 13, 2025, unraveled when a postmortem report revealed strangulation as the cause of death, debunking claims of a snakebite.

Ravita, a mother of three, and Amardeep, a local tile worker, were arrested after Ravita confessed during police interrogation. The duo had purchased a viper snake for Rs 1,000 from a snake charmer in Mahmudpur Sikheda village to mislead authorities. After strangling Amit while he slept, they placed the snake under his body, which bit him multiple times posthumously, creating the illusion of a fatal snakebite.

A viral video showing the snake striking Amit’s body initially fueled the narrative, but the postmortem confirmed no venom or bite marks caused his death.

Police investigations revealed that Amit’s discovery of Ravita’s year-long affair with Amardeep led to frequent arguments, prompting the murder plot. On the day of the crime, Ravita and Amit visited Shakumbhari Devi Temple, a trip police believe was a ruse. That night, Ravita instructed Amardeep to procure the snake, and they executed the plan.

SP Rural Rakesh Kumar Mishra noted the premeditated nature of the crime, with the snake used as a decoy.

The snake charmer is under scrutiny for potential involvement in illegal wildlife trade, raising concerns about the easy procurement of a venomous snake. The case has drawn parallels to the recent Muskan Rastogi case in Meerut, where a wife and her lover killed her husband.
