Massive Mail Theft Ring Busted in Canada: 8 Face 344 Charges, Deportation Looms

In a significant law enforcement operation, Peel Regional Police, in collaboration with Halton Regional Police and Canada Post, have arrested eight Indian-origin men linked to a sophisticated mail theft ring in Ontario, Canada. The suspects, aged between 21 and 29, face a collective 344 charges for crimes including theft and possession of property obtained by crime, with some potentially facing deportation, according to reports from CTV News and CBC on October 10, 2025.
The joint investigation, dubbed "Project Undeliverable," was launched in April 2025 to address a surge in mail thefts across the Peel and Halton regions. Authorities uncovered a coordinated group targeting residential mailboxes, causing widespread disruption to communities. Search warrants executed in September led to the recovery of 465 pieces of stolen mail, valued at over CAD 400,000, including 255 cheques, 182 credit cards, 35 government-issued IDs, and 20 gift cards.
The accused have been identified as Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh, and Upinderjit Singh, primarily from Mississauga and Brampton. Peel Regional Police are working with the Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency to evaluate deportation proceedings for foreign nationals among the group, underscoring the severity of the offenses.
