Mangaluru student arrested for transporting hybrid ganja from Chennai.
Karnataka Police have arrested a 21-year-old BCA student in Mangaluru city for allegedly transporting and selling hybrid ganja worth around ₹35 lakh, officials said on Wednesday. The accused was reportedly caught during a police operation conducted on Tuesday near Mulki Railway Station Road.
According to police, the accused, identified as Suhana, a resident of Sagar in Shivamogga district, was allegedly involved in transporting narcotics from Chennai to Mangaluru. Authorities said she was apprehended while allegedly attempting to sell the substance to consumers in the coastal city, including students.
Police stated that the seizure included 1.40 kilograms of hybrid ganja, which is considered a high-value and potent form of cannabis in the illegal drug market. Officers also recovered a mobile phone and other materials believed to be linked to the alleged trafficking activity.

Investigators further claimed that the accused is a final-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student at a college in Kundapura, Udupi district. Officials also alleged that she had prior criminal cases registered against her in Bengaluru and Mangaluru, and that she was under scrutiny for suspected involvement in narcotics-related activities.
The case has been registered under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Mulki police station, and multiple police teams from Panambur and Mulki jointly carried out the operation. Officials added that the investigation is ongoing to trace possible supply networks and links to other individuals involved in drug distribution.
Police also noted that the Customs Department at Bengaluru International Airport had earlier filed a case related to narcotics transportation involving the accused. Authorities have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking networks across Karnataka amid a series of recent seizures and arrests linked to hybrid cannabis and synthetic drugs.
