Man Arrested for Killing Brother-in-Law and Dumping Body in Drain in Delhi

Delhi man arrested for allegedly murdering brother-in-law and dumping body in drain.

Delhi police have arrested a 35-year-old man, Anis Pal, for allegedly killing his brother-in-law Yogender, aged 26, after a heated argument and dumping his body in a drain in the Swaroop Nagar area. The body of Yogender, a resident of Nathupura, was found earlier this month near the IP Colony, and a post-mortem confirmed homicidal injuries. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in what police had described as a blind case.

The investigation began after Yogender was reported missing on November 6, and his body was recovered on November 12. Extensive analysis of CCTV footage showed a white car with partial registration matching that of Anis Pal’s vehicle. Technical surveillance also revealed communication between Anis and the victim shortly before Yogender’s disappearance. This led to prolonged interrogation during which Anis confessed to the murder.

According to police, the incident occurred on November 5 when the accused and victim were inside the car. A heated argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, Anis allegedly stabbed Yogender with a knife he kept in the vehicle. He then removed the victim's clothes and disposed of the body in a drain by the IP Colony. Evidence recovered from his car included a blood-stained knife, bloodied upholstery, clothes worn during the incident, and CCTV footage showing him washing the car and disposing of the body.

Anis Pal has been remanded for two days in police custody as further investigations including forensic examinations of the vehicle and evidence continue. Authorities are also working to verify additional leads and determine if others were involved in the crime.

The case has shocked the local community and underscores challenges faced by police in resolving such crimes, often relying on a combination of technology and traditional investigative techniques to quickly resolve complex cases.
