Man Arrested After Video Shows Him Assaulting Woman In Mumbai Local Train

Police arrested a man on Friday after videos purportedly showing him harassing and assaulting a woman inside a Mumbai suburban train circulated widely on social media. The incident reportedly occurred in a second-class compartment and was recorded by another commuter travelling in the same coach.

One video shows the man aggressively confronting the woman before removing his belt. His movements appear to suggest that he intended to use the belt against her, while another clip shared online reportedly shows him striking her. The circumstances that led to the confrontation were not disclosed in the available report.

Police initiated action after coming across one of the videos on social media. The user who shared the footage alleged that the man had beaten the woman during the journey. Authorities subsequently identified and arrested the suspect, although his name, the charges invoked against him and the police station handling the case were not immediately provided.
