Major Fire at Thane Wedding Venue, No Injuries as Guests Escape in Time

A serious fire incident unfolded at a well-known banquet hall in Thane city, Maharashtra, late on Thursday night, December 18, 2025, placing the lives of more than 1,000 guests attending a wedding reception in grave peril. Through exemplary vigilance, coordinated efforts from venue staff, and prompt emergency response, every individual present was evacuated safely without sustaining any injuries, transforming what could have been a major disaster into a fortunate escape.
The fire broke out around 11 pm at The Blue Roof Club, a popular venue located in the Ovala area along the prominent Ghodbunder Road. According to preliminary reports from municipal authorities, the flames originated from decorative mandap materials, including fabrics and other flammable items, that were stored outside a cabin on the expansive lawn, quickly igniting and threatening to spread towards the main hall where celebrations were in full swing.
Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell, detailed that an estimated 1,000 to 1,200 guests were inside the facility when the fire was first spotted. Immediate announcements and guidance from the staff triggered a calm yet urgent evacuation process, allowing all attendees to exit the building swiftly and assemble at safe distances before the situation could worsen.

Fire brigade officials commended the rapid detection of the blaze and the disciplined evacuation procedure for playing a pivotal role in averting casualties in such a crowded environment. The firefighting team mobilised two fire engines, one dedicated rescue vehicle, and an additional utility vehicle, employing coordinated tactics to battle the flames effectively under challenging nighttime conditions.
The operation successfully brought the fire under complete control by midnight, preventing further damage to the property or surrounding areas. Municipal authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to pinpoint the exact cause of the ignition, with particular attention on safety protocols for storing decorative materials at event venues to prevent similar incidents in the future.
