Major Drug Bust! Woman Kingpin Arrested with Rs 25 Crore worth Heroin in Amritsar

Woman Kingpin Among Three Arrested with 5.2 kg Heroin in City Police Bust

Amritsar city police have dismantled a cross-border drug cartel, arresting three individuals, including a woman identified as the operation’s kingpin, and seizing 5.2 kilograms of heroin.

The breakthrough came after a meticulously planned operation, with the accused apprehended on Saturday and remanded to police custody following their court appearance.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar revealed that the mastermind, Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Ibban Kalan village on Jhabal road, orchestrated the trafficking network by posing as a police officer to evade suspicion. Her accomplices, Alam Arora and Manmeet alias Golu, were nabbed alongside her with the substantial heroin haul, estimated to be worth over ₹25 crore in the black market.

Bhullar disclosed that Mandeep, a widow originally from Khalra in Tarn Taran, had deep ties to Pakistan-based drug smugglers. "During the preliminary investigation, we identified the individual who linked her to the cross-border peddlers," he said, adding that additional accomplices have been pinpointed, with raids underway to apprehend them.

The police suspect the heroin was smuggled into India, likely via drones, a method increasingly prevalent along the Punjab border.

The arrests mark a significant victory in the city’s ongoing battle against narcotics, exposing the sophisticated tactics employed by traffickers. Authorities are now intensifying efforts to unravel the full extent of the cartel’s operations, with Mandeep’s dual role as a kingpin and impersonator highlighting the audacity of the syndicate.

Further developments are expected as the investigation progresses
