MAJOR DRUG BUST! BSF Seizes Rs 5 Crore Heroin Packet Dropped by Pakistani Drone
In a significant anti-smuggling operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a 1.116 kg packet of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 5 crore.
In a significant anti-smuggling operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a 1.116 kg packet of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 5 crore, near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district.
The seizure took place in the Gajsinghpur police station area after villagers spotted a drone from Pakistan late Wednesday night and alerted authorities.
Acting swiftly, a joint team of BSF G Branch Officer Devi Lal and CID Officer Hanuman Singh launched a search operation, locating the suspicious packet 2.5 kilometers inside Indian territory near the 4 FD checkpoint by pillar 333/1S.
The search, which began at 6 a.m. Thursday, culminated around 10 a.m. when the heroin was found hidden in barley fields. Gajsinghpur police took custody of the packet, confirming its contents as heroin likely dropped by a Pakistani drone.
Security agencies suspect additional packets may be concealed nearby, prompting intensified searches by BSF, CID, and local police, who have established blockades and increased patrols.
This operation underscores the growing challenge of drone-based drug smuggling from Pakistan, a trend also noted recently in Punjab, where police busted a gang distributing narcotics smuggled via drones, arresting three adults and apprehending a minor.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has flagged this rising menace as a severe threat to national security and public health, urging stronger countermeasures. The BSF’s swift response in Rajasthan highlights its vigilance, thwarting yet another attempt to flood India with illicit drugs and reinforcing efforts to safeguard the border amidst escalating smuggling tactics.
